Devan Del Conte, MFA
Devan is committed to the use of language to imagine ourselves into new and collaborative ways of being, to tell a more just and equitable story built upon relationships of reciprocity. She has worked as a writer and editor since 2016, providing content creation and developmental editing services to individuals, businesses and nonprofits, on projects ranging from academic articles, to memoir, to grant narratives. Devan is interested in how physical and social landscapes shape human understanding, the mythmaking and world building of daily life, how the stories we tell have the power to limit or expand our collective capabilities.
Devan has worked as a grower for Memphis TILTH, a nonprofit whose mission is to cultivate collective action for an economically sustainable, socially equitable, and environmentally sound local food system and most recently joined Alpha Omega Veterans Services as a Farm Manager.
Devan earned a BS in General Physics and an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Memphis. During her time there she served as a fiction editor and contest coordinator for the Pinch Literary Journal, a Graduate Student Mentor, an instructor for the English Learning Center, and an Administrative Director for the Center for Writing and Communication. She was a 2019 Resident at Sundress Academy for the Art’s Firefly Farms and a 2020 Crosstown Arts Resident. She is a member of the Association of Writers and Publishers.
